(CNN) — Prince Harry calls his brother Prince William his “arch nemesis” in his new book, according to an excerpt from an interview with Prince Harry on ABC’s Good Morning America.
In the interview clip, Good Morning America co-host Michael Strahan is reading a quote from the book ‘Spare’ to Prince Harry.
“There is a quote in this book where you refer to your brother as your ‘beloved brother and archenemy.’ Strong words. What did you mean by that?” Strahan asks.
Prince Harry is seen nodding as Strahan reads the quote.
“There has always been this competition between us, strangely. I think it really plays or always plays into the “heir and the spare” mechanic, Prince Harry replies.
Following the preview of the interview, Strahan told his Good Morning America co-hosts that he has read the entire Prince Harry book, adding that readers will be “astonished at how open it is” and that it will “blow their minds.”
The full interview will air on Monday.
Harry says William physically assaulted him in an argument about Meghan
Prince Harry accused his brother, William, of physically assaulting him during an argument about his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2019, according to The Guardian.
UK newspaper claims to have seen an advance copy of Prince Harry’s highly anticipated biography ‘Spare’, in which Harry, the Duke of Sussex, allegedly alleges he was knocked to the ground by his brother William, Prince of Wales during the altercation.
The alleged spat followed a conversation between the two brothers, during which William, the heir to the British throne, called Markle “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”, according to The Guardian.
The confrontation, The Guardian quoted Harry as saying, escalated until William “grabbed me by the throat, broke my necklace and… threw me to the ground”.
CNN has requested an advance copy of the book from Penguin Random House, but has not received a response. CNN also contacted Prince William’s press team at Kensington House for comment.
