Princess of Wales’ uncle hits back at Harry and Meghan’s Netflix ‘unfair and untrue’ attacks

The Princess of Wales’ uncle has revealed that Kate and William will be feeling ‘deeply wounded’ by Harry and Meghan’s attacks in their Netflix documentary.

Gary Goldsmith exclusively told Mail+ how his niece ‘desperately’ wants the warring brothers to repair their rift, after the Sussexes’ six-part series broadcast its final episodes on Thursday.

The Prince and Princess of Wales found themselves the target of a number of accusations, including claims that William ‘shouted and screamed’ at his younger brother during a heated meeting discussing the terms of the Sussexes’ exit from royal life.

And while Meghan was presented as warm in describing herself as a ‘hugger’, Kate was portrayed as a staid, willing captive who conformed to, in Harry’s words, the ‘mould’ of what a royal wife should be.

Mr Goldsmith, 57, insisted his niece is just as much of a hugger as the Duchess

The couple make a number of accusations against Mr Goldsmith’s niece and her husband, including claims that the Prince of Wales ‘shouted and screamed’ at his younger brother when he learned he was stepping back as a working royal

However, Mr Goldsmith, 57, insisted his niece is just as much of a hugger as the Duchess.

‘At her younger sister Pippa’s wedding in 2017, she had Prince George in her arms and literally ran over to give me and my daughter Tallulah a massive hug,’ he revealed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have not acknowledged the claims publicly and are not planning to watch any of the six episodes.

Mr Goldsmith, however, admitted he couldn’t resist joining millions in sitting down to watch, but was left exasperated by the way the family was depicted.

‘I think Catherine and William will be feeling deeply wounded. They love Harry, they miss him. He is family and, despite this attack, I believe they’d still welcome him and Meghan back,’ he said.

‘To me, the series felt not only scripted and inauthentic, but unfair, self-interested, unreasonable and untrue — especially when done in the knowledge that William and Catherine could never answer back.’

He added: ‘The real fairy-tale love story is Catherine and William. They are now working together as a cohesive unit while the other fairy-tale couple in America are being massively disruptive.’
