The Qatari Minister of the Interior and Chairman of the General Committee for the Referendum, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, announced that the draft constitutional amendments to Permanent Constitution For the State of Qatar, it received a popular approval rate of 90.6% of the total valid votes.
The minister explained that the results of the referendum held yesterday, Tuesday, resulted in the participation of 84% of citizens entitled to vote, with the percentage of votes approving the amendments to the constitution reaching 89%, while the percentage of votes not approving was 9.2%.
The percentage of invalid votes reached 1.8%.

Yesterday, Tuesday, voters in Qatar went to the polls to vote on the draft constitutional amendments for the year 2024, based on the Emiri Decree issued by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani By inviting all citizens to participate in a general referendum on amendments to the permanent constitution of the state.
The constitutional amendments that were voted on include replacing the texts of a number of articles, including Article 77, where the proposed text came as follows: “The Shura Council shall consist of a number of no less than 45 members, and an Emiri decision shall be issued to appoint the members,” after “The Shura Council shall consist of 45 members, 30 of whom are elected by direct secret public ballot, and the Emir appoints the other 15 members from among ministers or others, and the membership of those appointed in the Shura Council ends with their resignation or dismissal.”
The current referendum is the second in the history of Qatar after the first referendum held in 2003 to approve the draft permanent constitution in the country. The constitution was approved and approved after the results of the referendum appeared.
