The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it “renews the state’s firm stance on rejecting violence, terrorism and criminal acts, whatever the motives and causes,” stressing “the need to prosecute and bring to justice the elements involved in the attack.”
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Accord issued a statement, on Sunday, indicating that Bashagha had been subjected to an assassination attempt while he was returning to his residence in Janzour.
On the other hand, the “stability support agency” affiliated to the Presidency Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord denied that Bashagha had an assassination attempt, stressing that “Bashagha’s guards initiated the firing when a vehicle belonging to the agency encountered the passage of the minister’s motorcade.”
The agency added, “What happened was poor coordination and misconduct by the interior minister’s guards.”
