Queen Letizia cut an elegant figure in a chic black gown as she hosted a dinner in honour of the Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s visit on Thursday evening.
The Spanish royal, 49, put her best foot forward as she accompanied her husband King Felipe VI, 53, in welcoming Sergio Mattarella and his daughter, Laura Mattarella at the glittering state banquet.
Letizia, who wore her brown locks swept back in a chic bun, dazzled in diamonds – including an impressive tiara featuring pearl detail, eye-catching necklace and matching bracelet.
Both Letizia and her husband King Felipe VI wore the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic as a nod to their guests.

King Felipe looked dapper in a crisp white shirt, smart black suit and ceremonial green sash.
During the evening, Letizia and President Sergio could be seen clinking glasses over their meal as they raised a toast and engaged in conversation at the table.
Earlier in the day, Letizia looked the picture of elegance as she welcomed the Italian president and Laura to the Royal Palace in Madrid.
As the daughter of President Sergio, who is a widow, Laura has accompanied her father on many trips and has acted as the First Lady of Italy since 2015.

The glamourous royal matched her ensemble with grey court shoes and an accompanying handbag of the same colour.
Letizia kept the look simple by wearing discreet jewellery in the form of a small diamond-encrusted feather on each ear.

The welcome comes after the royal pair visited the Municipal Transport company and were treated to a tour of its old buses, including a blue and white double-decker bus.
The royal couple hopped on the bus and were seen sitting on the top floor of the vehicle.
