Queretaro, Qro. For the holiday season and the end of the year, local commerce estimates to capture an economic benefit of 1,900 million pesos, a figure that would imply returning to the pre-pandemic level of 2019, according to projections from the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco Servytur) in Querétaro.
The economic projections for the sector are positive as it is the first end of the year, after the pandemic, without sanitary restrictions due to Covid-19, said the state president of Canaco Servytur, Fabián Camacho Arredondo.
“This economic spillover is similar to that of 2019. Compared to the previous year, it represents an increase of close to 40%, especially driven by the fact that a year ago we still had restrictions on both capacity and hours and this year we It has already advanced in a positive way”, he explained.
Economic estimates range from December 1 to January 6, Three Kings Day, which also means an incentive for consumption in the state.
In addition, a 20% rebound in sector sales is expected on these dates, compared to conventional days.
increased activity
With the start of the last month of the year, it is expected that the commercial activity of the state will increase, because some workers receive the Christmas bonus in advance or begin to make purchases.
In parallel to the commercial dynamics of the end of the year, it is expected that the arrival of tourists to the state will have an impact and that this will bring benefits to businesses dedicated to tourism.
“We predict that the most benefited sectors will be recreational tourism, the local one, with visits to the state during this month by people who come to recognize the wealth that the entity has and have family visits,” said Fabián Camacho.
The products with the highest demand are expected to be technological items, food consumption, gifts in general, toys, among others.
If the local trade projections are met, the Canaco leader added, the trade and services sector would achieve an annual growth estimate of 8% by the end of 2022.
“With this December season and if this purpose is fulfilled, we trust that we will be closing 2022 with economic growth for the tertiary sector close to 8%, with which, if inflation in Querétaro remains at 5 to 6%, it would keep us slightly above and it would give us positive numbers for this 2022”, he explained.
During the first quarter of the year, trade in Querétaro registered a growth of 3.90%, according to the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
