Queretaro, Qro. The state tourism sector plans to close 2022 with a total of 2 million tourists and an economic spill of 10,000 million pesosaccording to estimates from the State Secretary of Tourism.
These are indicators that would be close to the pre-pandemic records, trusting that at the end of the year they will tie with the indicators of 2019, estimated the Secretary of Tourism of the state, Adriana Vega Vazquez Mellado.
“The reality is that we are already very close (to pre-pandemic levels), I would like to say that hopefully due to the closure that we have for this 2022 we can at least tie ourselves, tie ourselves up with 2019,” said the state secretary.
For this last stretch of the year, he added, there are high expectations for the tourist activity, due to the proximity that Querétaro has with the tourism that comes from the Mexico City.
Faced with the recovery process that tourism is going through, it seeks to strengthen the local supply chain, which is why the first business meeting with the tourism sector is held in the state.
The meeting gathers at the Querétaro Congress Center (QCC) a 290 companiesbetween November 29 and 30, who will participate in 1,500 business appointmentsexplained the secretary of state.
“The sector will have the possibility of continuing to grow and continue with an inertia of recovery, to get closer to the numbers we had in tourism before the pandemic,” added Adriana Vega.
The meeting, organized by the Secretariats of Tourism and Sustainable Development (Sedesu), foresees that state companies join local supply chains in the segments of hotels, restaurants, and tourist services, among other niches.
In this regard, the secretary of Sedesu, Marco Antonio del Prete Thirdraised the need to make it easier for small and medium-sized companies to integrate into value chains, as well as to expand the linkage channels between the private initiative.
“We are looking to match the supply with the demand (…) of many small producers who knock on the door every day, maybe not with the big buyers, but with the buyers that interest them such as hotels, restaurants, providers of tourist services”, added the head of Sedesu.
Therefore, he announced that the state administration is working on the development of a supplier program, in order to identify companies that require training, financing services, among other strategies to boost their competitiveness.
“We are working on a supplier development program, we have done it with the CCMX (Centro de Competitividad de México), in which we develop companies and suppliers, it will be the same in this case, we will see which are those companies that probably need training, financing, some type of training for their staff and we will seek to develop those suppliers ”, he explained.
This initiative, he added, will be promoted during the following year, in order to promote commercial exchange.
