He also assured that the safety of Uber operators is guaranteed, “thanks to the coordination work on security that exists between the three levels of government.”

“We are always going to seek peace, work with the three levels of government with the objective that we have the certainty of security, and this is achieved through dialogue and with this regulation, and the legal teams are already working on that,” he added.

The president of the Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, Jesús Almaguer, launched a call for the Quintana Roo taxi driver union to avoid falling into confrontations that affect tourism after the setback they suffered with the protection granted to Uber, to operate in the entity without the need for a concession.

The hotel leader considered that competition is healthy as is the fact that users can choose between one service or another, for which he also called for taxi drivers to improve their service and renew their vehicle fleet in order to compete on equal terms. with digital transport platforms.

For his part, the President of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) del Caribe, Eduardo Martínez González, celebrated that Uber will be able to operate in Quintana Roo and spoke in favor of healthy competition in the field of transportation that allows the user to choose the best service, the best product and satisfy their needs as It already occurs in the main cities.

He added that any monopoly or controller of a single service tends to loosen quality measures and not be up to the service required by the entity as the main tourist destination.

“It is good, it is very good that healthy competition is open and that others can compete with this; the taxi service will continue to exist and there will always be people who feel more comfortable raising their hands and asking for a quality taxi service from a platform to maintain the service, it will maintain its clientele, you have a market no matter what another platform enters and you will have to share the market and compete in service and quality”, he stated.
