Following another poor performance by their special teams, the Las Vegas Raiders have fired coordinator Tom McMahon, according to a report from NFL Media.
McMahon, 56, joined the Raiders in 2022 under former head coach Josh McDaniels and was retained by the current coaching staff.
The move comes as the team’s key specialists have struggled this season. Kicker Daniel Carlson has made only 12 of 16 field goals, including a missed 48-yard attempt that would have tied the team’s most recent game with 4:30 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Punter A.J. Cole has also seen a drop in production, having his second punt of the season blocked in the last game. His punting average has declined from 50.8 yards last year to 47.6 this season, with his net average falling from 42.5 to 37.5 yards.
The Raiders currently have assistant special teams coaches Kade Rannings and Derius Swinton on staff.
