Thunderstorms suspended play at the Cincinnati Open on Tuesday night, forcing the postponement of several matches until Wednesday. An official announcement confirmed there would be no further play for the evening due to persistent heavy rain and lightning in the area.
The third-round match between No. 4 seed and defending finalist Jessica Pegula and No. 31 seed Magda Linette was halted after two sets. Following two separate rain delays, Linette had secured the first set 7-6(5), while Pegula leveled the contest by taking the second 6-3.
Another third-round singles match between No. 16 seed Clara Tauson and Veronika Kudermetova was also postponed, along with two doubles matches.
Play will resume Wednesday, with Pegula and Linette continuing their match on P&G Center Court, not before noon local time, following an ATP match. Tauson and Kudermetova are scheduled to begin their contest at noon on Court 3. The winners of these two postponed matches are slated to face each other in the Round of 16.
Wednesday’s packed schedule also features No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka taking on Jessica Bouzas Maneiro during the day session. The night session will be headlined by a match between No. 12 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova and No. 28 seed Anna Kalinskaya.
