The Toronto Raptors will take on the Boston Celtics in their final game of 2024.
The Raptors are hoping 2025 will bring them more fortune, especially when it comes to injuries.
Toronto has another key player on its injury report ahead of their game against the Celtics. RJ Barrett will miss Toronto’s matchup against the Celtics with an illness. Barrett left the arena immediately after the game Sunday, missed practice today and will not travel to Boston with team for the game on Tuesday afternoon, per Sportsnet’s Michael Grange.
Barrett did play against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night and seemed to be fine as he put up 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. With Barrett out, the Raptors will likely turn to Bruce Brown in the starting lineup. Brown made his season debut against the Hawks and looked good putting up 12 points in 19 minutes from off the bench.
Raptors lead guard Immanuel Quickley (elbow) is out as well for the Raptors, per Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy. There was no further update provided on Quickley and there is still no timetable for his return. Quickley has only play in three games for the Raptors this season.
Gradey Dick has also popped up on the injury report with hamstring tightness, per Murphy. Davion Mitchell (illness) and Bruno Fernando (toe) are also questionable. If Dick is out, the Raptors will likely start Ja’Kobe Walter in place of him.
Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic said Scottie Barnes has been playing through ankle soreness, but he’s beginning to feel better. Since returning from injury, Barnes has been back to his normal workload.
The Raptors who have allowed a franchise-record 430 points in their last three games will be in tough when they take on a Celtics team that ranks No. 3 in offensive rating.
