Vinicius Junior has acknowledged that criticism is part and parcel when playing for Real Madrid, after the Brazilian came under fire for recent performances.
The 20-year-old has struggled to nail down a place as a first team regular in Zinedine Zidane‘s side since joining from Flamengo in 2018, due in part to inconsistent displays.
The Brazilian has scored seven goals and provided one assist in his 53 appearances for the LaLiga champions, a modest tally for a player with such high expectations.

The 20-year-old has come under fire for inconsistent performances since joining Real Madrid
Vinicius has endured criticism from supporters, but the youngster has insisted he ignores the opinions of those who do not matter to him.
‘I always think about those who want the best for me – family, people at the club, colleagues like Marcelo and Casemiro, the type who put me on the right path,’ he told YouTube channel Desimpedidos .
‘It is all part of being a member of the biggest club in the world. When we lose they talk about us, and when we win it is something else.’
The Brazilian recently caught the public eye after Real Madrid star Karim Benzema was seen telling Ferland Mendy not to pass to him in tunnel footage from the Champions League game with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Vinicius says his relationship with Benzema is good and that criticism comes as part of the job
The revealing footage had cast doubt over the harmony in the Madrid dressing room, but Vinicius says Benzema is one of his closest friends at the club.
‘I have a good relationship with Benzema,’ he added. ‘Also Lucas Vazquez. I talk a lot with them off the field. There’s also [Luka] Modric, who I sit with at lunchtime.’
Vinicius has featured from the bench in Madrid’s last two victories – over Huesca and Inter Milan – and will be hoping to play a part against Valencia this weekend.
Madrid take on Javi Gracia’s side at the Mestalla on Sunday night, where they could regain their lead at the top of LaLiga.
