Italian media reports revealed that the deal to transfer AC Milan’s Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer to Saudi club Al-Qadisiyah has failed.
The Algerian international returned yesterday, Thursday, to participate in the Rossoneri training in preparation for the match against Lazio, on Saturday, in the third round of the Italian League.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Al-Qadisiyah management has signed 8 foreign players over the age of 21, which means the legal number allowed by the Saudi Professional League has been completed.
During the current summer transfer window, Al-Qadisiyah succeeded in signing Nacho Fernandez, the former captain of Real Madrid, and Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the star of Marseille.
According to the newspaper, Milan’s management was pressing in the last 48 hours of the transfer market for Bennacer to leave in order to make room in the team for Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone or Adrien Rabiot, noting that Milan was hoping that other Saudi clubs would submit offers to buy the Algerian star.
It was believed that the Algerian’s absence from Milan in the past three days was related to his transfer, but things did not happen.
The same newspaper revealed a few days ago that the Saudi team had submitted an offer to its Italian counterpart, Milan, worth 20 million euros, in order to obtain the services of the Algerian international, during the current summer Mercato.
Ismael Bennacer’s situation in Milan continues to deteriorate, with the arrival of the new technical staff led by coach Paulo Fonseca, who expressed his intention not to rely on Bennacer.
Bennacer (26 years old) joined Milan in 2019 from Empoli on a contract extending until 2027, for 17 million euros.
The Algerian star played 171 matches for Milan in various competitions, during which he scored 8 goals, provided 11 assists, and succeeded in winning the Calcio title.
