Red-stained clothes and Palestinian flags… touching solidarity from Sociedad fans with Gaza | sports

In an innovative and unprecedented way, Real Sociedad fans stood in solidarity with Gaza and condemned the massacres committed by the occupation, in the match that witnessed a great 3-1 victory for the Basque team over Benfica in the Champions League.

Before the start of the match, a number of Sociedad fans wore white clothes and white masks, staining them with red in reference to the martyrs who fall in Gaza. Their number exceeded 11,000, and they carried Palestinian flags. They entered the stands of Anoeta Stadium, raising flags during the players’ warm-up operations.

Sociedad qualified for the European Champions League final after defeating the Portuguese team.

The Spanish team leads Group D with 10 points, ahead of Italian Inter Milan, who is in second place, on goal difference, while Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg occupies third place with 3 points, and Benfica occupies fourth and last place with no points.
