- Others hoped the image was photoshopped or a joke using press on acrylics
A photo of a newborn baby with long, pointed nails that could ‘tear your face right up’ has gone viral.
The image shows a baby’s tiny hand gripping onto a woman’s thumb. The infant appears to have had a manicure and is wrapped up in a yellow and white blanket.
Some social media users were quick to point out the dangers of the child’s sharp nails.
‘Baby nails are sharp enough as it is, those things would tear your face right up,’ one person said.
‘An itchy eye could result in permanent blindness,’ added another.

A third person said: I hope they did this just for the picture but then again they let the baby’s nails grow this much.
‘Either way it’s not good. I feel for the kid.’
Others said the image was photoshopped or press on nails put on a baby for a joke.
Some insisted it could have been an honest mistake, claiming their own children had particularly quick-growing nails that needed regular attention.
It’s unclear when the image was taken, but it has been circulating online since 2017.
Baby website Living and Loving said: ‘If your baby was born after her due date, her nails might be quite long and sharp.
‘Keeping them short helps prevent scratching of the face, which is common in small babies.
The manicure debate comes after a mother was shamed for hanging her baby on the back of a bar stool while enjoying a drink with a man.
A photo showing the baby, who appears to be about three months old, hanging from a carrier attached to the mother’s bar stool went viral this week.
The image, from several years ago, reemerged to Reddit where thousands of users blasted the woman for neglecting the infant.
‘The whole thing just screams ‘we don’t care about this baby’, and being that open about it is pretty trashy,’ one Redditor commented.
‘Why are these people so desperate to forget they have a kid with them that they have to hide it like a coat you don’t want to deal with?’ a second comment read.
‘They can’t hold the baby in a lap or strap it to one of their bodies or put it in a high chair like parents do?’

Another user said it was ‘a terrible show of parenting’.
‘As a parent with a toddler and a 3 month old… what the f**k? No. Your child isn’t a back pack or coat. Don’t hang them casually on a bar stool.’
But the bizarre parenting technique also garnered praise from some Redditors who saw the light side of the photo, with some claiming it was an ‘ingenious parenting hack’.
‘I don’t see the issue here as long as the baby is sleeping,’ one user wrote.
‘I’m conflicted, I’m angry at her disregard for her own child, yet I find it a little funny. I don’t know, I hope the child is ok,’ said another.
‘That baby is real Irish. Drank straight from the bottle, s**t his pants, threw up, punched a lady, then cried himself to sleep,’ a tongue-in-cheek comment read.
