Reece James shown red card AFTER the full-time whistle on his first England start for confronting the referee to cap off a dismal evening for Gareth Southgate’s side against Denmark at Wembley
Reece James was shown a red card by the referee after the full-time whistle for dissent on a tough evening for England against Denmark.
Chelsea right back James was making his first start for his country and was one of Gareth Southgate‘s finest performers, in a 1-0 defeat against the Danes at Wembley which saw Harry Maguire sent-off in the opening 31 minutes for two yellow cards.
But after a game where England didn’t get the rub of the green from Spanish referee Jesus Gil Manzano, he displayed a red card for the second time on the night to James after the 20-year-old confronted the official following the end of the game.

The incident after the game capped off a dreadful night for England, who failed to capitalise on their victory against Belgium on Sunday.
It means Denmark go level on points with England in their UEFA Nations League group, with the Belgians two points ahead on a total of nine.
James though, making his third cap for England, was lively out-wide on the right with his delivery was threatening throughout.
But the 20-year-old was punished for dissent at the end and now faces at least a one-match suspension, meaning he will be unavailable for the trip to Belgium in November.

Ex-England international Jamie Redknapp said of the decision afterwards: ‘It’s a massive shame because I thought he [James] was sensational today.
‘Emotions perhaps got the better of him. I thought the referee was useless today. If he has sworn at him then there’s nothing he can do he’s got to be sent off. ‘
Manager Gareth Southgate, speaking to Sky Sports, added: ‘The referee has said he’s sent him off for dissent… it shouldn’t have happened but for the overall week he’s made an enormous impression.’
