Club Celaya is a soccer arena that has rediscovered itself. Today the club is experiencing a period of sporting results, economic improvement and proposing how a new chapter of Ascenso MX can take place in the history of Mexican soccer.
The team has a past of metamorphosis, changed its name, had two opportunities in the first division, disappeared, was refounded, buyers for the franchise were sought, changed administration and today, it has a 2022-2027 Business Plan.
“The club is in a moment of growth. We, as a new board of directors at the call of the Achar Levy family, have sustainability plans and we know how to do it through genuine income, how to compete and develop social and institutional projects that make us an agent of change in our city”.
Carlos Benavides, Director of the club since 2021, attended EL ECONOMISTA before the Clausura 2023 Semifinal match, a tournament that they led with 37 points in the general table and in a context where Mexican soccer seeks to reactivate the Promotion, but it has not yet been dictated the mechanism.
“We launched the project where we seek to strengthen the identity, connection and trust of our fans and stakeholders. The club went from losing money last year to making relatively small profits and this year we plan to close stronger.”
The new administration supports the business plan on three pillars and 11 strategic projects for the next five years and they are: identity and brand; sporting success and institutional management.
_ Of the pillars of the strategy, which is the one that needs to be worked on the most in the club?
“The most difficult is the development of local talent. We have developed a ‘training forces’ plan and not ‘basic forces’ because we develop good citizens through sports and we call it ‘bull DNA’, which forces us to look for talent in the State with a sports plan and values of human accompaniment . It is a process of about four years, from capturing them, projecting them, developing them and giving them a chance in professional football, it is a generation of identity, a clear DNA of our model and savings, because we have players who, if they go abroad, generate income”.
