Remittances to Mexico, one of the country’s main sources of foreign currency, accelerated their growth rate during February, driven both by a greater number of remittances and by an increase in the average amount of operations.
The capital received in the period totaled 3,910 million dollars, 23.3% more than in February 2021, spinning 22 consecutive months of progress, according to figures released this Friday morning by the Bank of Mexico.
In January, remittances grew by 19.6 percent.
The number of operations – coming mainly from the United States – increased by 15.6% year-on-year in the second month of this year, while the average amount per order rose by 6.8%.
In accumulated figures, remittances to Mexico increased by 21.4% during the first two months of 2022 to 7,841 million dollars.
