Rep. Crockett’s Lavish K Spending on Travel and Security Draws Fire

Federal Election Commission filings reveal that Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, used nearly $75,000 in campaign funds this year for luxury travel and private security across the U.S.

The records show Crockett, who represents the Dallas-area 30th Congressional District, spent over $25,700 on high-end hotels and limousine services in cities including Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, New York City, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Notable hotel expenses included $4,175 at the Ritz-Carlton, $5,326 at the West Hollywood Edition, and a combined $5,864 for two stays in Martha’s Vineyard. Her campaign also paid thousands for premium car and limousine services in Chicago, the Bay Area, and Washington, D.C.

During the same period, Crockett’s campaign spent nearly $50,000 on security services. This expenditure has drawn notice due to her previous support for the “defund the police” movement. In 2021, Crockett stated, “The Defund movement seeks to actually bring about healing and finally invest in our communities to make them safer… Defund is about finally being fiscally responsible when it comes to policing in this state.”

Crockett, a prominent progressive voice, has confirmed she is “seriously weighing” a potential run for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and is commissioning data to inform her decision.

The spending disclosures surface amid several recent controversies involving the congresswoman. She received criticism for referring to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is a wheelchair user, as “Governor Hot Wheels.” Crockett later said her comment was not intended to mock his disability but to critique his migrant busing policies.

She also faced backlash for remarks calling for Elon Musk to be “taken down” and for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to be “knocked over the head, like hard.” Additionally, Crockett defended Virginia Attorney General-elect Jay Jones after his past text messages fantasizing about murdering a Republican lawmaker were revealed, calling the issue a “distraction.”
