Republican Senator Josh Hawley announced that he would challenge Democratic US President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election, during a congressional meeting to formally approve the results of the Electoral College vote.
Hawley said in a statement, today, Wednesday, that “some states, especially Pennsylvania, have not been able to fulfill the election laws.”
He added that “Congress should open an investigation at least” into this file.
It is noteworthy that Joe Biden won the presidential elections over the current president, Donald Trump, by winning 306 votes from the electoral college, compared to 232 votes for Trump.
Trump had announced “irregularities” during the counting of votes in a number of states, including critical states such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan and others.
The Trump campaign and his lawmakers have filed a number of lawsuits in several states to recount the votes, but the federal and Supreme Court dismissed the cases for lack of evidence of any fraud or irregularity.
