Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Middle East is a rapidly growing gaming market, as the region’s residents have evolved capabilities from playing casual games to virtual reality games and more recently participating in competitive sports.
With the growing community of active players and the increasing spread of the Internet, the games and esports industry in the Middle East and North Africa region is likely to witness a boom in the future, according to the expectations of the company “YouGov” specialized in public opinion data.
YouGov has produced a new report, “Games and Esports: The Next Generation,” which provides an analysis of the global video games and sports landscape across 24 markets.
The study shows that in the field of video games, Southeast Asia has the highest percentage of gamers, with Thailand leading with 82% of the population who plays video games, and then the Philippines with 80% of the population of gamers.
In the Middle East and North Africa region, Egypt has the highest percentage of video game enthusiasts, with 68% of the gambling population, followed by the UAE with 65%, and Saudi Arabia with 61%.
