NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Some Nashville neighbors are dealing with damage from a 16-inch water main break early Thursday morning along Rev. Dr. Enoch Jones Boulevard.
It turned the street, and The Ludlow parking garage into pools of water. The break left vehicles submerged, hundreds of families without water, and holiday plans in disarray.
One of the hardest-hit areas was The Ludlow apartment complex, where residents woke up to find their cars underwater.
“It’s going to be a bad day after Christmas, for a lot of people,” one resident said after finding his girlfriend’s car underwater. “We started to go down the stairs to get my girlfriend’s car, and we couldn’t get down the stairs to get into the garage The elevator in the building is not working. I’m assuming the motors are flooded. So we’re just waiting for HOA to do an assessment.”
A spokesperson for MWS said all of the breaks are weather related and caused by temperature change, ground moisture and ground shifting.
“This is an absolute nightmare. I’ve never seen anything like this,” explained Jeffrey Crossley, another resident. “It’s definitely a headache to deal with.”
About 200 customers in the area are without water as Metro Water Services crews work to repair the damaged line.
