Restaurants in Puebla plan to invest 30 million pesos in 2023

Puebla, Pue. The Puebla Association of Restaurants and Service Providers (Apresac) reported that 35 of its partners will invest 30 million pesos in 2023 to expand business or have a branch, recalling that during this year 15 partners applied 20 million to improve establishments.

Arturo Delgado Ramírez, who heads 300 partners, said that for a decade the businessmen had not made this injection of resources, who saw how others take advantage of the turismowhich they trust will recover next year and be reflected in their sales by having more attractive and comfortable places for visitors.

He mentioned that the businesses are between 20 and 25 years old, but they had set aside their growth in space, which was reflected in the fact that, being saturated, they did not have the capacity to receive more diners and they do not wait more than 20 minutes for a table and chose to go to another.

Instead of taking advantage of its position to expand, that opportunity was taken by its competition in a gastronomic corridor, which is why they now had the initiative to invest, with a view to having a return on their money applied in two years”, he said.

He commented that the businesses that invested this year generate around 700 direct jobs, since they have become a tradition in Pueblabut with the expansions they create another 110 positions.

The works began in May and ended in October 2022, to take advantage of the influx of tourists in the last two months, he explained.

Regarding the other 35 businessmen of the Apresac who will invest 30 million pesos by 2023, they will generate around 180 direct jobs between May and June.

Delgado Ramírez hopes that these investments will have an effect on the rest of the partners, since an improved restaurant attracts more customers “who recommend the place by word of mouth and that contributes to more income, especially when it is the novelty in a gastronomic corridor.

On the other hand, he asked the city council of Puebla open more calls on the distinctive “poblano tables”, which was resumed in 2022 and which rewards the best restaurants, because in their menus they offer typical dishes as a base, including chiles en nogada, mole poblano and hips.

Only 25 establishments have this hallmark of the municipal authority, a very small number, but it is a sample of the importance it has to be granted and that not everyone could access, because it also recognized ancestral places, he explained.
