Retired General Miguel Enrique Vallín Osuna is the new director of AFAC

The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) reported that the retired Air Staff Diplomat Aviator Major General, Miguel Enrique Vallen Osunawas appointed director of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), replacing retired General Carlos Antonio Rodríguez Munguía, who held the position since February 1, 2021.

The first objective of the official who took office this Monday, on the instructions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, is the recovery of the category 1 in terms of aviation security.

“The history of international civil aviation is of the utmost importance, therefore the primary objective is to recover Category 1 to operate within established international standards. It is a social necessity to be able to provide security to this means of transport and it is a direct responsibility of the State aeronautical authority”, said Vallín.

In a press release, it was detailed that the person in charge of dispatching the SICT and Undersecretary of Infrastructure, Jorge Nuno Laraled the protest.

During the ceremony, he said: “the aeronautical sector is dynamic and requires adequate management, since it plays a determining role in the national economy, in addition to the fact that, in the current administration, work is constantly being carried out on the development of airport infrastructure and the strengthening of of the industry to provide accessible and quality services to users, despite the adversities encountered”.

The director of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), Carlos Velázquez Tiscareño, and the director of SENEAM, Ricardo Torres Muela, among others, also participated in the formal ceremony.
