(CNN Spanish) — The Argentine actor Ricardo Darín told CNN Radio that he will star in “El Eternauta”, the next fiction of the Netflix streaming platform.
“We are about to start in a very short time. It’s a huge, huge, huge project. It is going to be really very complex and very complicated to do it, ”he explained during an interview with Marcela Coronel and Pepe Gil Vidal after receiving the Platinum award for best actor for“ Argentina, 1985 ”.
“The story of the eternal user, on which the new version of what we are going to do is based, aims to have an opening that reaches a little beyond the borders of our country, which is why the version is based on the real comic, but there is a new version. And yes, we are all very enthusiastic and very mobilized because it is a huge project, which expects very hard work (…) I think it will be something that will not go unnoticed”, added the award-winning actor.
“El Eternauta” is a graphic novel created in 1957 by Héctor Oesterheld and Francisco Solano López that takes place in a dystopian future in Buenos Aires.
In addition, Darín confirmed that this series will be directed by Bruno Stagnaro, who has been in charge of series such as “Okupas” and “Un gallo para Esculapio”.
“Bruno is the head of a series of writers and a very large group that is behind this new version, which will probably last one or two seasons; and they have done an amazing job. And the truth is that what awaits us is also going to be incredible, ”he commented.

“Argentina, 1985”
Ricardo Darín also spoke on CNN Radio about his success with “Argentina, 1985”, and about how the repercussions of this film continue, which went around the world.
“It has produced a social mobilization in many ways, especially among young people who have acquired, or have felt in some way stimulated to go investigate, find out what really happened, how it happened,” he explained.
“I think this film has been very generous with all of us and with a large part of society (…) I lived through this entire process, following the film throughout eight months in different parts of the world, and we realized how far point history, the claim for justice, specifically focused on such an important event for our democracy, generates so much mobilization outside the limits of our country. (…) People get moving after seeing the film”, he added about the film nominated, among other awards, for the Oscar for best international film.
After its enormous impact in Argentina and the world, the actor highlighted the importance of the film in remembering part of Argentine history.
“The construction of democracy today we take it naturally, normally, but sometimes we make the mistake of forgetting that there was a lot of suffering, a lot of sacrifice, a lot of pain and a lot of losses for that to be achieved (…) This film was I was trying to talk about the human part of a group of people who were in charge of a challenge than to carry out this trial (…) As citizens, I feel proud to have contributed my bit so that young people understand how painful which was the construction of democracy, especially in these decades in which we are enjoying democracy, in quotes, because it cost a lot to achieve it. So, that’s the part where I feel, let’s say, satisfied with the work done,” he said.
