Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to reunite with director Robert Eggers for the filmmaker’s upcoming werewolf horror feature, “Werwulf.” Lily-Rose Depp, who co-starred with Taylor-Johnson in Eggers’ recent gothic hit “Nosferatu,” is also in negotiations to join the cast.
Eggers will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Sjón, his collaborator on the 2022 film “The Northman.” The project is currently scheduled for a Christmas Day 2026 release in North America.
The film will be produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title, alongside Eggers and Sjón. Chris and Eleanor Columbus of Maiden Voyage are serving as executive producers. Focus Features, which financed and released “Nosferatu,” continues its long-standing partnership with Eggers, having been involved with all of his features, including “The Northman,” “The Lighthouse,” and “The Witch.”
This reunion follows the critical and commercial success of “Nosferatu,” a reimagining of F. W. Murnau’s 1922 silent film. In that movie, Depp starred as a young woman who becomes the object of obsession for a terrifying vampire (Bill Skarsgård), while Taylor-Johnson played a skeptic. The film surpassed box office expectations with a $40 million debut over the Christmas holiday, ultimately grossing over $181 million worldwide.
Taylor-Johnson’s recent credits include “28 Years Later,” “The Fall Guy,” and “Bullet Train,” with “Kraven the Hunter” set for future release. Depp’s filmography includes “Wolf,” “Silent Night,” “The King,” and the HBO series “The Idol.”
