(CNN) — The worlds of tennis and K-pop collided, of all places, on Roger Federer’s Instagram when he posted a photo of himself with K-pop stars Blackpink in Paris.
“My kids said this was a definitive IG post,” the 20-time Grand Slam winner commented, and with his likes topping over a million, it seems they were right.
Blackpink — made up of four members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé — is one of the world’s most popular bands, boasting more YouTube subscribers than any other music artist and an army of fans known as “Blinks,” a combination of “black” and “pink”.
“Blink????” current world number 7 Coco Gauff commented on Federer’s photo, while Denis Shapovalov, who reached the third round at this year’s Australian Open, commented : “Hahaha yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy”, along with a sunglasses emoji.
Federer, who retired from competitive tennis in September, posted the photo exactly five years after defeating Marin Cilic in the men’s final of the Australian Open, his 20th and final Grand Slam title.
Since retiring, Federer has been spending more time in the fashion world, posting photos to Instagram from Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday.
In March, she will join Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to co-host the 2023 Met Gala alongside singer Dua Lipa and actresses Penélope Cruz and Michaela Coel.
