(Trends Wide) — Billionaire and media mogul Rupert Murdoch prepares to walk down the aisle for the fifth time.
The 92-year-old man revealed the news that he became engaged to Ann Lesley Smith through an article published Monday in The New York Postone of the media he owns.
Murdoch told rumor columnist Cindy Adams that he met his future wife in September when she visited his vineyard, Moraga Estate, in Bel Air, California.
“I was very nervous,” Murdoch said of their whirlwind romance. “I was afraid of falling in love, but I knew that this would be the last. I hope so. I’m happy”.
The News Corp. founder proposed to her with an Asscher diamond ring in New York on St. Patrick’s Day, because it’s “a quarter Irish.”
The couple intend to marry in late summer this year. “We both look forward to spending the second half of our lives together,” Murdoch said.
Smith was previously married to Chester Smith, a country singer and television and radio executive, who died in 2008.
The 66-year-old bride-to-be said she and Murdoch — whose empire includes outlets like Fox News and The Wall Street Journal— approached each other because of their shared knowledge of the media industry.
“Like Rupert, my husband was a businessman. He worked for local newspapers, developed television and radio stations, and helped promote Univision. So I speak the language of Rupert. We share the same beliefs,” Smith said.
Murdoch was previously married to former flight attendant Patricia Booker, journalist Anna Murdoch, and businesswoman Wendi Deng. He has six children.
In 2016, he married his fourth wife, former model Jerry Hall, at St. Bride’s Church on Fleet Street in London. They divorced in August of last year.
