Russell Westbrook is ‘traded away by the Los Angeles Lakers who reunite with D’Angelo Russell in a three-team swap which sends the former MVP to Utah Jazz’
Russell Westbrook has been traded to the Utah Jazz in a three-team swap which has landed former Laker D’Angelo Russell back in the Purple and Gold, according to multiple reports.
Ahead of the NBA deadline, the struggling Lakers agreed to send away Westbrook and a 2027 first-round pick to Utah in exchange for Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley.
Former Jazz star Mike Conley, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and 2024, ’25 and ’26 second-round picks are on the move to Minnesota.
The trade brings an end to months of speculation that LA were looking to rid themselves of the former MVP.
Westbrook’s time in Tinseltown has been nothing short of a disaster for the Lakers, who had hoped his presence would elevate them toward another NBA championship.

D’Angelo Russell will return to the Los Angeles Lakers after four seasons with Minnesota
The 34-year-old arrived via a trade with Washington, who received Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in exchange.
Russell started his career with the Lakers after being taken with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
He earned second team NBA All-Rookie status during his first season before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets in June of 2017.
It imminently followed a Snapchat incident with then-Laker-teammate Nick Young, where Russell recorded him admitting to cheating on fiancee, Iggy Azalea.
Russell has spent the previous four seasons with Minnesota and through the current season is averaging 17.9 points and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 39 percent from three-point range.
Conley is a veteran addition to the struggling Jazz. The 16-year point guard is averaging 10.7 points and 7.7 assists per game.
