The Washington Wizards have successfully solved a free agency that threatened to crumble the foundations of the franchise. The transfer of Russell Westbrook to Los Angeles returned a fairly interesting number of assets to the capital, although the revolution could be complete.
Before asking franchise owner Ted Leonsis to leave the Lakers, Westbrook tried to convince Bradley Beal to leave the Wizards as well, reporters from The Athletic Shams Charania, Sam Amick and Bill Oram. The guard chose not to change of scene but did support Westbrook’s desire to join the Californian franchise.
Beal can become a free agent in the summer of 2022 if he turns down his player option for the 2022-23 season worth $ 37.3 million. The three-time All-Star has completed his nine-year career in Washington, where he has averaged 22.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists in a total of 605 games.
Now, both the Wizards and Beal himself will try to maintain the positive trend of the last months of last year to settle, thus, the team in playoff positions.
