The Russian Space Agency “Ross Cosmos” said that Russia began vaccinating astronauts and workers in “Star City”, a closed town near Moscow that hosts the Russian space program.
A while ago, a vaccination campaign with the Russian Coronavirus “Sputnik V” was launched in Russia, primarily involving workers in the medical and educational sectors. So far, more than 200,000 people have been vaccinated.
“Ross Cosmos” reported that the astronauts Nikolai Schopp and Oleg Artemiev, a former member of the International Space Station crew, were vaccinated today, Friday, with the first dose of the two doses of the “Sputnik V” vaccine.
Olga Menina, head of the local hospital, said that the two astronauts had volunteered to take the vaccine called Sputnik, the first satellite in the world.
