Russia has called on the countries of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to study the possibility of joint production of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the Coronavirus.
“We hope that the European Medicines Agency will evaluate the Russian vaccine based on scientific and humanitarian considerations, not political,” said Russia’s delegate to the organization, Alexander Lukashevich, during the organization’s permanent council session today.
He added, “Russia proposes to all members of the international community, without exception and regardless of political and economic considerations, to cooperate in combating the common threat, as we consider vaccination against” Covid-19 “to be good for everyone around the world.
He continued: “We call on the concerned countries to study the possibility of launching vaccine production in their facilities, including for foreign markets,” adding that this would provide additional job opportunities and contribute to the development of bilateral and multilateral partnership in fighting the epidemic and saving lives.
Lukashevic stressed that the “Sputnik V” vaccine is superior to other vaccines in terms of value and logistics.
It is reported that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe includes more than 50 countries, many of which are members of the European Union.
On March 4, the European Medicines Agency announced the start of work on examining the Russian vaccine to ensure that it meets European standards in terms of effectiveness, safety and quality.
