Has the United States kept its promise to launch a cyberattack on Russia?
The United States of America went through a period of intense hysteria in the 1950s, in the so-called McCarthyism, when the US government severely persecuted its communists and launched a massive brainwashing campaign against its people against the Soviet Union.
At the time, some Americans could not stand the American propaganda and went crazy. For example, the first US Secretary of Defense, James Forrestal, jumped out the window in May 1949 while shouting “The Russians Are Coming” and died.

The USA hasn’t changed much since then. In its fight against Trump, the US Democratic Party raised anti-Russian hysteria to unprecedented levels, until it began to believe in its own propaganda.
Even after Biden came to power, his administration cannot and does not want to give up “Russian arms” against Trump and his supporters. So, when the CIA reported, last December, that some hackers had managed to infiltrate US government agencies, the Democratic Party had no choice but to shout “The Russians are coming!”, Even though Washington had no realistic evidence to accuse Russia.
This story ended with the fact that Washington promised terrible revenge and launched a cyber attack on Russia, so that only Putin would know about this attack personally …
On Tuesday, two events took place in the Russian segment of the Internet.
First, the Russian authorities have slowed down video and audio content on Twitter on 100% of mobile devices and 50% of computers.
The reason is that Twitter has ignored demands by the Russian authorities since 2017 to remove 3,168 Russian-language content that includes calls for suicide, child pornography, and information on drug use. Russian authorities said that further ignoring their demands could lead to a complete ban on Twitter.
However, regardless of the official reason, it is clear that Western social media networks have clearly hinted that if efforts to destabilize the situation in Russia continue, and censorship against Russian media continues, then measures will be taken against those networks.
Second, on the same day, there were problems accessing a number of Russian websites, government agencies and the media alike.
The competent Russian authorities denied the existence of a link between the two events, which leads to the belief that the problems that Russian websites suffered from was the promised cyber attack.

According to some reports, the attack was carried out through fragile vulnerabilities in US-made equipment.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that the websites of Russian government agencies have been subjected to cyber attacks. In particular, the Central Elections Committee’s website is regularly attacked, including during the referendum criticized by the West on amending the Russian constitution in the summer of 2020.
One way or another, if this was Biden’s “terrible revenge”, it almost went unnoticed, all sites were restored, and were back up and running regularly. Washington was smart enough not to challenge fate and start a true electronic war, contenting itself with a symbolic attempt to “save face” in a dead end in which the Democratic Party itself pushed its propaganda.
However, in the real information war, Moscow dealt a serious blow to Washington and the social networks it controls. Let’s see if the Cold War in this area will move to the stage of escalation, or rather when this will happen.
