The Ukrainian military said Russia It launched a large-scale missile attack on many areas in Ukraine During the early hours of Monday morning, while the Russian authorities announced the evacuation of 300 of their citizens from a town near the Russian-Ukrainian border due to the Ukrainian bombing.
The Ukrainian army explained in a blog post published on its official account on the Telegram application that “all parts of Ukraine are under warning for possible exposure to air strikes, and it has asked the residents of Kiev to take shelter,” noting that the capital is threatened by a Russian attack with ballistic missiles.
Ukrainian military officials in several regions, including Zaporizhya, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Khmelnytsky, said that their cities were also facing “major missile attacks” launched by Russia.
Hundreds of residents evacuated in Russia
For its part, the Russian authorities announced the evacuation of about 300 people from the city of Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border, after it was bombed by the Ukrainian army.
Reuters quoted the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, as saying, “About 300 Belgorod residents, who decided to leave the city temporarily, are currently residing in temporary shelters in cities far from the Russian-Ukrainian border.”
The governor of the Russian city said, “Over the past 24 hours, we have received 1,300 requests to transfer children residing in Belgorod to school camps far from the city, in other regions.”
On Friday, Gladkov offered the residents of Belgorod to evacuate the city, which is about 32 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, and which has been subjected to intense strikes by the Ukrainian army in recent weeks.
This population evacuation is the largest of its kind in a major Russian city since the beginning of the Russian war in Ukraine in February 2022.
Belgorod was subjected to Ukrainian attacks on December 30, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 25 people, the largest number of civilian deaths in Russia since the outbreak of the war.
