The Russian biologist and professor at the University of “Skolkovo” in Moscow, Georgy Bazekin, talked about ways to stop the mutation process of the coronavirus that makes it spread at an unprecedented speed.
He said that reducing the amount of coronavirus in the planet is the best way to prevent the Corona virus from mutating and acquiring new mutations.
The world brought to mind Denmark, where its authorities took a decision to kill 17 million mink animals, and this is not in order to prevent large numbers of people from being infected with the Coronavirus, as this procedure does not lead to many infections, compared to the transmission of the virus from one person to another.
This step, according to the Russian scientist, was taken in order to prevent the coronavirus that settled in mink animals from mutating and acquiring new, previously unknown mutations that have dangerous properties.
He said: “Of course, the matter of mink differs from that of humans. However, we must take measures to prevent the spread of the Corona virus to a large extent. These include wearing protective masks, washing hands, adhering to social distancing, and others.”
He went on to say: “The fewer the number of infections with the coronavirus, the fewer the number of its mutations. As for the victory over the” Covid-19 “epidemic, it will not give the virus new opportunities to mutate.
It is reported that the professor at the Russian University of Kazan had previously spoken to the newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda” about a Russian woman whose body had the coronavirus for 5 months and produced 18 new mutations.
