Today, Kaliningrad Province achieved “independence in the field of the Internet” as the Russian province in the European Union was connected with the rest of Russia via an optical fiber line at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
Thanks to this, this region isolated from mainland Russia, now enjoys access to high-speed connections, without the need for Internet service providers from the Baltic countries (European Union countries).
The line was extended from Kingsepe, Leningrad Province, in mainland Russia, to the city of Kaliningrad.
The length of the line is 1115 km, and it intersects 50 times with gas pipelines, power cables and communication cables, for example, with the gas transmission lines “Northern Torrent -2” and “Northern Torrent”.
During the extension of the communication line, mine experts in the Russian Baltic Fleet destroyed 7 naval mines. It is worth noting that the line was built by a Russian digital company.
