Russian forces are intensifying their campaign to control the Ukrainian town of Avdiivka, located in the east of the country, by trying to advance towards it from all sides after weeks of fighting.
The head of the military administration in the Ukrainian town of Avdiivka, Vitaly Barabash, told the Espresso TV channel, “Things in the Avdiivka sector have become more difficult, as the intensity of clashes has been increasing for some time,” noting that the Russians have opened two other sectors through which they have begun to achieve results, in the direction of Donetsk and in the so-called region. Ukraine launched a counterattack in June but made only marginal gains in both the east and south. The president admitted Volodymyr Zelensky progressed slowly, but he denied any suggestion that the war had reached a “stalemate.”
