The Russian Foreign Ministry said today, Monday, that relations between Russia and the European Union are close to collapsing.
This was stated by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Alexander Grushko, and he said that Brussels (the headquarters of the Union) showed that it is not ready to cooperate with Moscow on an equal footing.
He added that relations between Russia and the European Union could be described as being in the stage of “coexisting with conflict.”
Grouchko said EU sanctions against Russia make cooperation and interaction with Brussels questionable.
According to Groshko, the European Union has reached a new level of escalation in its unfriendly policy by imposing new sanctions against Moscow.
He explained that the European Union, with its policy of sanctions, had put a new obstacle to developing normal relations between the two sides.
Grouchko also touched on relations between Russia and NATO, stressing that they are at their lowest levels since the end of the Cold War.
