The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Russian peacekeepers transported a shipment of humanitarian aid to the city of Stepanakert in the Karabakh region, which witnessed a military escalation between Azerbaijan and Armenia last fall.
The Ministry of Defense stated that the peacekeepers had transferred medical equipment and supplies collected by Russian charitable organizations, in addition to books, to a local school.
It is noteworthy that Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Karabakh under the agreement to end the fighting in the region, which was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on November 9.
With the deployment of Russian peacekeepers and the ceasefire, the latest escalation in Karabakh, which began in late September, ended.
