“We are very happy because the Moscow metro is the first in the Russian Federation, and now the opportunity for women who worked in the metro has had the opportunity to find a new profession,” Lexotov added.
“A uniform has been developed specifically for women who drive metro trains, and they have the choice to wear pants or skirts,” Lexotov said.
“I am sure that the number of drivers will increase. There are already many requests. The first and second stages of employment will be among the metro employees, and then everyone will be invited,” he concluded.
The Ministry of Labor order in Russia regarding the approval of the list of jobs, including driving the Moscow metro trains, which was exclusively for men, came into effect, as 12 of the 25 women who underwent training obtained a driver’s license.
