The Ministry of Economy (SE) reported that the El Buen Fin 2022 program registered sales of 134,000 million pesos, according to estimates by the Business Coordinating Council (CCE); although said amount was 30% below the estimated goal of 195,000 million pesos.
The agency headed by Raquel Buenrostro specified that sales per day on what is also known as “the cheapest weekend of the year” increased 22% when comparing a sales day in 2021.
“Since it lasted four days, this translates into 33,500 million pesos per day of sale. In the year 2021 it was 27,400 million pesos per day; and in 2020, of 19,916 million pesos”, highlighted the SE.
Although the sale registered from November 18 to 21 is not comparable to the Good End of 2021, as it was carried out for a greater number of days (7 days), the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco- Servytur) hoped to exceed the commercialization of 2021, when an amount of 191,000 million pesos was presented.
But the Good End 2022 was carried out amid uncertainty due to the possible recession in the United States, the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine and the record of the highest inflation level in the history of Mexico. And this is the first time that the authorities have not summoned the media to publicize the figure.
The Ministry of Economy affirmed that it has promoted the El Buen Fin program under the framework of an economy with development and well-being for the population. “The objective has been to strengthen the internal market, especially small and medium-sized businesses that generate local commercial ties that give impetus to community production chains,” he said. In a statement, the agency added that in the twelfth edition of the Good End, more than 104,000 commercial establishments were registered on the official portal to participate in the program.
Although they did not specify the data for online sales or the percentage that it represented of the total sale, it is estimated that it did not reach the initial projection that was 20% against 16% in 2021.
With the purpose of encouraging purchases with electronic means, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) held the El Buen Fin 2022 Draw on December 9, in which it distributed 326,249 prizes, with a total bag of 500 million pesos; of which, 100 million pesos were for businesses and 400 million pesos for cardholders.
