SAT collected 233,270 million pesos for audits of large taxpayers

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported that, preliminarily, it collected 233,270 million pesos for audits of large taxpayers between January-December 2022, which represented an annual increase of 3.5% in real terms.

Since 2019, the SAT has established the Master Plan for Large Taxpayers where it has sought to schedule more assertive audits and with less inspection time. In addition to encouraging self-correction in large taxpayers. The federal treasury has also reported that conducting audits of said sector of the taxpayer registry is to avoid aggressive tax planning.

With the latest SAT data, it can be seen that during 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, 753.988 million pesos have been collected through the aforementioned concept. The amount is greater than the 501,133 million pesos of the entire past six-year term headed by Enrique Pena Nieto.

Antonio Martínez Dagnino, current head of the SAT, commented last May -during a press conference- that the SAT expected to audit between 900 and 1,000 large taxpayers in 2022 and thus collect some 200,000 million pesos for audits. Meanwhile, in 2021, the SAT inspected 1,248 Big contributors with which it obtained income of 208,901 million pesos.

The SAT considers a large taxpayer to be one who declares income of more than 1,500 million pesos per year. In 2022, the register of large taxpayers had 11,028 companies.
