The Tax Administration Service (SAT) clarified that young people over 18 years of age who do not comply with the provision to register in the Federal Taxpayers Registry will not be penalized (RFC), after at the beginning of 2022 this measure is already mandatory.
In a statement, the SAT He explained that joining the RFC for young people who have reached the age of majority and obtaining the e. signature (electronic signature) “does not imply that they are obliged to pay contributions or submit declarations, unless they carry out some economic activity.”
He affirmed that during the transition period to implement this new provision approved in the Tax miscellany for 2022 by the Congress of the Union, no young person will be sanctioned for not registering with the SAT.
This institution is very clear that the registration transition will take some time and during this period there will be no penalties, no fines, or sanctions, “he reiterated.
It should be remembered that in the Tax Miscellany 2022, approved by the Chamber of Deputies on October 20 and ratified without changes by the Senate of the Republic a few days later, determines that people who turn 18 years of age will be obliged to register for the RFC even if they do not have economic activity.
The Tax Administration Service explained that the new measure seeks to introduce young people over 18 years of age to the tax culture and protect them from identity theft, “since shell companies use them as name holders.”
“By having their RFC and their electronic signature, young people will receive notices in the contact media that they register, in case their identity has been used by said companies,” explained the agency headed by Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez.
The SAT He reiterated that young people who register for the RFC without economic activity are not obliged to pay taxes or to submit monthly or annual information returns; Nor to give warnings, unless they change their regimen or start an activity.
