The Saudi newspaper “Okaz” reported that a blog posted by a tweet led “Riyadh Health” to seize a medical complex for dental treatment in Al-Kharj Governorate, which published a misleading commercial advertisement.
Riyadh Health reported that through the continuous follow-up of the Media Monitoring Department of the Institutional Communication Department of the materials published on social media platforms, a post of a dental medical complex was monitored that published a misleading advertisement claiming that one of its medical staff had obtained an American University degree, as well as Damascus University in medicine the teeth.
She explained that it became clear through the investigation that the doctor did not wear either of the two universities, mentioned in the advertisement, and he is a graduate of a private local college and holds the classification of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, as well as a permit to practice health professions.
She confirmed that the complex had been referred to the committee to look into violations of private health institutions.
She indicated that the applicable penalties include imprisoning the practitioner for 6 months, imposing a fine of up to 100,000 riyals on the practitioner and the institution, revoking the practitioner’s license and imprisoning for up to 6 months.
