In an interview with “Al Arabiya” channel published on Friday, Ben Farhan said, in response to a question about a number of Arab countries signing agreements to normalize relations with Israel, that this decision is the sovereign of the parties that agreed to this measure, indicating: “We hope that it will have a positive impact mainly On the peace track, and to achieve what we all aim at, which is a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem. “
He continued, “We hope that what has been done will motivate Israel to engage in serious negotiations with the Palestinians to reach a final solution to this issue and a just settlement that will achieve what we all aspire to. I am confident that the countries that signed these agreements are keen to achieve this just as we are keen on it.”
In response to a question about the existence of a date for signing a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel, Bin Farhan clarified that this matter “depends on achieving peace and achieving the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the Arab Peace Initiative.”
The Saudi Foreign Minister stressed that the Arab Peace Initiative remains the broad title of his country’s relationship with Israel.
In 2020, 4 Arab countries, namely the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, reached agreements to normalize relations with Israel.
