Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – For the ninth year in a row this year, the “Global Happiness Index 2021” was released, whose results are based on Gallup World Poll data.

Since its launch in 2012, the report has primarily based its findings on levels of GDP, life expectancy, income, freedom, corruption, social support, and generosity.
This year, Finland ranked first on the annual list as the happiest country in the world, while Iceland, Denmark, Switzerland and the Netherlands followed in second, third, fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Researchers explain that it is not surprising that Finland ranked first in the index again, as the Scandinavian country often ranks high in terms of “mutual trust” between peoples and their governments, which is among the main factors that helped protect people during the epidemic period.
