Yasser Al-Mishal, head of the Saudi Football Association, confirmed that his country’s federation contacted the International Federation “FIFA” three months ago to discuss hosting the Club World Cup in the event of Japan’s apology.
Al-Mishal said in statements reported by the Saudi newspaper, Al-Riyadia, on the sidelines of the launch of the Saudi football strategy, on Thursday: “We spoke with FIFA about hosting the Club World Cup if Japan apologized, and the International Football Association stated that there is another alternative country scheduled for them, so in the event of an apology, this The country also, the International Federation will communicate with us directly and for sure, to host the global event in Saudi Arabia.”
The head of the Saudi Federation indicated that the Saudi Super this season between Al Hilal, the league champion, and Al-Faisaly, the cup champion, will initially be in January of the new year 2022.
As for the establishment of the Super Championship with a new and different system, he said: “The next season will present the idea of playing the Super Championship from 4 teams to the clubs for approval and formal inclusion in the competitions.”
