Savers point to a lack of political will in the Ficrea case

At a press conference, on the occasion of the eighth anniversary since the fraud was uncovered at the end of 2014, Javier Paz Zarzacomptroller of the Ficrea bankruptcy, pointed out that there are resources of 12,000 million pesos, enough to pay off the debt of 4,500 million pesos What about savers?

According to Paz Zarza, despite the extradition of one of the principals named in the case and his willingness to repair the damage to those affected, the amount demanded by the victims has not been paid.

In March of this year, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), had reported that Rafael Olvera Amezcua, one of the alleged perpetrators of the fraud and majority shareholder of Ficrea.

“Rafael “O” is allegedly responsible for defrauding more than six thousand people, mostly older adults through a finance company (FICREA case). Olvera was detained in Texas on May 29, 2019 by Interpol agents pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Mexican authorities.

One of those affected by the case, María Elena Morales, pointed out that despite the arrest of one of the main accused and a change of administration in the federal executive, the savers have only been paid the Deposit Insurance, which amounts to at 132,000 pesos, which does not cover most of what was saved by those affected.

“We have had meetings with different actors such as Jaime González Aguadé president of the National Baking and Stock Commissionand others said that they were going to pay us because there was enough money to do it, there was more than 7,000 million pesos and that they could pay us 100% to the savers”, Morales commented.

To date, savers point out that 600 affected died without justicewhile of the 6,848 defrauded, the majority of older adults face old age without financial security.

“I am retired, I invested my savings in Ficrea, since I had a very low pension, which is not enough for the expenses, I have children in college, high school and high school. We are suffering, I have worked all my life to give them a life dignifies my children, but now with this situation I have to tear myself apart,” Morales said.
