School of Rock Latinizes its teaching methodology

There is a need to socialize after two years locked up as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is essential, having analogous experiential experiences in an overdigitized world is appreciated, and we are a 100% analogous experience, it is an option in the that you can connect with others and connect and sometimes with yourself, this is how Drago Eterovic, the CEO of School of Rock Latinoamérica.

In interview with The Economist, Eterovic said that they have created a community, where the issue of safety and the care of adolescents are in the first place. “We know the risks, the fears of parents for what the children go through at this stage, they are vulnerable, with insecurities, we also give them emotional support.”

What is it about?

School of Rock It is the largest music academy in the world, with 55,000 students currently in training and 307 schools located on five continents. The academy has almost 25 years of history and was the inspiration for the movie School of Rock, starring Jack Black in 2003.

They have a practice-based, US-patented method that teaches music to people of all ages and learning levels. His philosophy is to enrich people’s lives through musical practice,” said Eterovic.

At school, students can choose between electric guitar, bass, keyboard, singing or drums and join casts or bands with which they learn rock repertoires, which they later present in spectacular live shows on local circuit stages, in front of real audiences and with all the conditions of an authentic rock show.

“We only started the franchise in 2015 for Latin America, there were a couple of schools that had already opened in Mexico up to that point, but what is being done now is a relaunch of what the methodology is, giving it a flavor from Latin America, including everything that rock as Latin means to us, such as: El Tri, Café Tacuba, Caifanes, Soda Stereo, Charly García, Los Prisioneros, Los Jaivas, Los Aterciopelados, among others”.

He explained that it is about taking music everywhere, “the methodology is based on interpretation based on practice, for this we prepare shows that we show in different venues every three months, for this reason our students are constantly playing live.

“Our instructors are musicians who are constantly active, they are prominent local musicians, many of them play on tour with renowned artists as session musicians and are always participating in the music scene,” said the CEO of School of Rock Latinoamérica.

This month, they opened the branch in Polanco in Mexico City. The facilities have nine individual classrooms, four rehearsal rooms and a fully equipped multipurpose room in 340 square meters that will combine infrastructure, design and high-end instruments.

“School of Rock Polanco will be the tip of the iceberg of a great development project for the company that will allow us to bring our approach to music education to more cities in the territory and strengthen the operations of our existing schools,” concluded Drago Eterovic.
