Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer will join the creative team for the third season of HBO’s drama series Euphoria. He will compose the score alongside Labrinth, the British musician responsible for the acclaimed music of the show’s first two seasons.
The collaboration is a natural fit, as series creator Sam Levinson revealed he wrote the new season while listening to Zimmer’s iconic scores for Interstellar and True Romance. The third season, which follows the 2022 release of its predecessor, is currently in production.
Zendaya returns to her leading role as Rue Bennett, alongside cast members Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Eric Dane, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Dominic Fike, and Maude Apatow. Barbie Ferreira will not be returning for the new season. Colman Domingo is set to return as a guest star, with Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry promoted to series regulars. New cast additions include Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Kadeem Hardison, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, and Sharon Stone.
The eight-episode season will feature a time jump that follows the characters after high school and is expected to serve as the conclusion to their story.
“It’s a true honor to be working alongside Hans,” said Levinson, who writes, directs, and executive produces the A24-produced series. “I wrote this season to the score of Interstellar and True Romance. So he’s been ingrained in the creative DNA since the beginning. I’m really proud of the work Labrinth and I have done in previous seasons and am excited for Hans to push us to new heights.”
Zimmer shared his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s an honor to join this incredible team of storytellers led by the visionary Sam Levinson. Labrinth’s music has shaped the show’s identity and I’m looking forward to contributing to the ongoing story and helping shape this new season through music.”
Labrinth added, “Another chapter in the Euphoria universe. So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season.”
